In the Bhagavad Gita, the enlightened master Krishna makes a wise statement: Gahano karmano gatihi – the universe by its very nature works, works, works. The nature of the universe is to work, create and expand. Life’s flow itself is work. Wealth is a natural result of this process. If you are working but not creating wealth, it means that all your work is happening in wrong direction!
What is wealth consciousness?
The first step towards becoming wealthy is creating a wealthy consciousness. We all want a better world and a better life for ourselves, but we rarely take the responsibility to stand up and make it happen. When you align yourself to the universal laws, you take the responsibility to create and sustain wealth in ways that will benefit all. Wealth consciousness means making a clear decision to break out of the myths and mental patterns that impoverish us and draw us again and again into the poverty cycle.
What’s stopping us from expressing our ability to create wealth? Here we look at some common myths and mindsets we carry about wealth – and how to break free of them:
Myth 1: Making money is a sin!
Do you feel guilty about becoming wealthy? It is time to break out of the traditional idea that a rich man can never enter the gates of heaven! It is simply a social conditioning which you can snap out of with a simple understanding and a conscious decision. Understand that it is perfectly alright to create abundance for ourselves, as long as we are not grabbing from others. Create as much wealth as you can, celebrate it, share it. Wealth consciousness is high creativity with high responsibility.
Myth 2: Wealthy people work smart, not hard
We all carry a secret hatred for hard work! That is why the idea of taking a vacation is fascinating to everybody! When was the last time you really stretched yourself to make something happen? Don’t be too lazy to bend your body and mind to realize your dreams. Read the stories of any famous millionaire today, and you will see that wealth does not come from a genie in a bottle. Wealth that has not been earned will never stay with you, because you will naturally lack the intelligence to sustain it.
Myth 3: You have to be worthy of it…
If you feel that you are not worthy of being wealthy, then your work should start in the inner world, not in the outer world. No matter how hard you work, you will never be or feel wealthy, because right now your consciousness is feeling small and shrunken. When you expand your inner space, you will be able to put wealth in the right perspective: as an excellent utility, and no more. You are worth much more than your wealth! With meditation, your inner space becomes so vast that you will simply see that everything, including wealth, is just the play of your consciousness. It may sound unbelievable now, but this is the truth. Wealth serves those who are wealthy in their very consciousness.
