27 July 2012: Less than a week after completing the 21-day Inner Awakening yoga and meditation retreat at Kodaikanal hill resort in South India, Paramahamsa Nithyananda will be leading a group of international devotees on a 15-day yatra (spiritual pilgrimage) to Kailash-Manasarovar, considered to be one of the most sacred pilgrimages by the followers of five religions - Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs and Bons.

Located in present-day Tibet, this snow-capped 500-foot monolith located at an altitude of 21,778 feet (6,638m) above sea-level in the trans-Hmalayan range is known as the ‘crown-jewel of the Himalayas’. At 14,957 feet (4,556 m), Manasarovar is the most elevated lake in the world and is renowned for its healing properties.

It is widely believed that pilgrims who glimpse the holy mountain of Kailash will be liberated from lifetimes of bad karmas. Hindus speak of Mt. Kailash as the embodiment of the powerful Lord Shiva, and the manifestation of Mt. Meru (the spiritual epicenter of the universe).

Speaking about Kailash during morning satsang, Nithyananda said, “You can never capture Kailash in words! Kailash is not merely a place, it is a glorious wordless statement by Shiva Himself! You don’t have to be a Hindu or Buddhist to experience this. Kailash is a spiritual superconductor, and anyone who enters its field will be taking a giant leap towards their own enlightenment.”

En route to Kailash, the group will also visit the Himalayan country of Nepal, and offer their respects at the ancient Pashupatinath, Muktinath and Jalnarayan temples. But as always, traveling with Nithyananda will mean much more than visiting sacred sites or trekking though the enchanting mountain landscapes. The fortunate Kailash pilgrims can look forward to rare spiritual revelations, special initiations and mind-blowing energy darshans.
