His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda today launched the Nithyananda Grama Seva Yojana (NGSY), a multi-pronged rural outreach program that is aimed at enabling and empowering over 300 villages in Karnataka by creating opportunities for their socio-economic development. NGSY’s primary focus in the first phase would be the setting up of cottage and village industries in 33 villages, which play an important role in rural economic reconstruction.

NGSY is an extension of Nithyananda Lakshmi, a financial support program specifically for women running rural businesses and homes that has been successfully operating for the past 5 years, and now has over 1400 satisfied members from local women’s self-help groups.

Inaugurating the project which will empower thousands of local villagers, Sr. Sri Sri Shantiveera Mahaswamiji of Kolade Matha Mahasamsthana applauded the social service programs and humanitarian efforts of Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam.

Sri Manjunath, Regional Convenor of Bajrang Dal, stressed the need for people of all communities and languages to come together to support this initiative which has widespread benefits for all.

Other special guests who graced the occasion included Sadguru Sri Jayaprakeshendra Saraswathi Mahaswamiji, 169th Guru Mahasannidhanam of Sri Chakra Sri Vidyapeetham Ashram Mahasansthanam, Malaysia, Sri.Ankappa (BJP District Vice President, Mandya) and Sri Krishna (BGP District General Secretary, Mandya).

The day’s events also included special recognition for high-achievers among the women and girl students from the villages, sharing of experiences by Nithyananda Lakshmi beneficiaries, a free medical camp and annadaan for all.
