TECHNIQUE
- Place the right foot on the left thigh
- Now place the left foot on the right thigh
- Keep both the arms raised above the head and join the hands. Raise your hands fully up and keep them straight like a mountain
- Remain in this pose 30 seconds
(This should be practised in both sitting as well as Lying conditions. But now we do following kumbhakas in sitting pose only)

TRANSLATION
The breath has to be filled in the abdomen by drawing air through the tongue. After having retained the breath for a moment, the exhalation should be done through the nostrils.
TECHNIQUE
- Close the eyes
- Protrude your tongue as much as possible
- Roll the sides of the tongue like a tube
- Now inhale through the tube formed by the tongue
- After inhaling, close your mouth
- For a moment hold the breath
- Exhale through both the nostrils
- Do this for 3 minutes

TRANSLATION
The breath needs to be sucked in through the mouth with a hissing sound and the exhalation to be done through the nostrils. By practicing this Kamadeva – the Cupid becomes the second.
TECHNIQUE
- Continue to sit in the same posture and close your eyes
- Press the lower teeth with the upper teeth and open the lips comfortably
- Suck air through the gaps in between the teeth
- Be aware of the sound produced
- After inhaling close the mouth and exhale through the nose
- Do this for 7 minutes

Be seated on the ground
Hold the corresponding feet by inserting hands under the pair of heels
Bring the heels towards chest
Fix the gaze at the tip of the nose

TRANSLATION
Having inhaled through the left nostril and retained, inhale through the right nostril. Having then inhaled through both the nostrils, retain the breath (all these in one shot before exhalation). This is the Trinetra Kumbhaka – the giver of three siddhis – as explained by the three-eyed Shiva. -Kumbhaka Paddhati, 192nd Verse
TECHNIQUE
- Inhale through the left nostril
- Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously
- Without exhalation, inhale through the right nostril
- Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously
- Again without exhaling, inhale through both the nostrils
- Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously
- Now exhale through both the nostrils slowly and relax
- Do this 21 times

TRANSLATION
Always inhale through the nostrils and mouth together at a time. This is called the Trishoola Kumbhaka – the remover of triple sufferings – as explained by the Thrishooli Shiva.
TECHNIQUE
- Inhale through the nostrils and also through the mouth simultaneously
- Hold the breath as long as you can
- Now exhale through both the nostrils slowly and relax
- Do this 21 times
