PADMA ASANAHATHA PRADEEPIKAA, UPADESHA 2, VERSES 31-33 (More) Uththanau Charanau Kruthvaa Ooru-Samsthau Prayathnathaha | Oorumadhye Thathoththaanau Paanee Kruthvaa Thatho Drushau ||2.31|| Drushtim vinyasya naasaagre Dantamoolam cha jihvayaa | Uttapya chibukam vakshas Yuttaapya bhavanam shanaihi ||2.32|| Idham Padmaasanam Proktham Sarva-Vyaadhi-Vinaashanam | Durlabham yena kenapi Dheemataa labhyate bhuvi ||2.33|| TRANSLATION One should with effort place the upward facing feet on the thighs, and place the upward-facing palms between the thighs. Concentrating on the tip of the nose, keep the tongue pressed on the upper teeth, press the chin on your chest, push the air slowly upward, that is slowly pull the prana upward. This asana called as Padmaasana destroys all diseases, filled with power. Though difficult to be obtained by everyone, some intelligent people learn it. TECHNIQUE - Place the right foot on the left thigh
- Now place the left foot on the right thigh
- Place the hands between the thighs with the palms facing upwards , Concentrating on the tip of the nose, keep the tongue pressed on the upper teeth
- Press the chin on your chest, push the air slowly upward
- Exhale slowly
- Do this 3 times and release the chin on your chest and tongue pressed on the upper teeth

TRINETRA KUMBHAKA WITH JAALANDHARA BANDHAKUMBHAKA PADDHATHI, VERSE 192 (More) Sakruth Chandrena Chaapoorya Dhaarya Sooryena Poorayeth | Niyamya Poorayennobhyaam Dhaarayithvaa Yathaa-Vidhi || Thrinethra-Kumbhakaha Prokthaha Thrinethrena Thrisiddhidhaha ||192|| TRANSLATION Having inhaled through the left nostril and retained, inhale through the right nostril. Having then inhaled through both the nostrils, retain the breath (all these in one shot before exhalation). This is the Trinetra Kumbhaka – the giver of three siddhis – as explained by the three-eyed Shiva. TECHNIQUE - Inhale through the left nostril
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat and Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously
- Without exhalation, release the throat lock and inhale through the right nostril
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat, Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously
- Again without exhaling, release the throat lock and inhale through both the nostrils
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat, Hold the breath as long as you can judiciously
- Now release the throat lock and exhale slowly through the nostrils and relax
- Do this for 21 times

TRISOOLA KUMBHAKA WITH JAALANDHARA BANDHAKUMBHAKA PADDHATHI, VERSE 193 (More) Ghonaabhyaam Cha Mukhenaapi Yugapath Poorayeth Sadhaa | Thrishoolinaa Trishoolaakhyaha Kumbha Ukthas-Thrishoolanuth ||193|| TRANSLATION Always inhale through the nostrils and mouth together at a time. This is called the Trishoola Kumbhaka – the remover of triple sufferings – as explained by the Thrishooli Shiva. TECHNIQUE - Inhale through the nostrils and also through the mouth simultaneously
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat, Hold the breath
- Now release the throat lock and exhale slowly through the nostrils and relax
- Do this for 21 times

KRAMA NETRA KUMBHAKA WITH JAALANDHARA BANDHAKUMBHAKA PADDHATHI, VERSE 191 (More) Sakruth Sooryena Chaapoorya Dhaarya Chandrena Poorayeth | Dhaarayeth Cha Prayathnena Rechayeth Kramathas-Thathaa || Netra-Kumbhakaha Ithi Khyaathaha Kramatho Vyuthkramaadapi ||191 || TRANSLATION One should take the breath in through the right nostril, hold the breath and then again inhale through the left nostril. He should with effort hold the breath again and exhale in the same order. This is known as krama-netra kumbhaka. This is also done in the reverse order. TECHNIQUE - Inhale through the right nostril
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat, Hold the breath
- Without exhalation, release the throat lock and Inhale through the left nostril
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat, Hold the breath
- Release the throat lock and Exhale through the right nostril
- Place the chin on the chest and contract the throat, Hold the breath
- Without inhalation, release the throat lock and Exhale through the left nostril
- Do this for 21 times.
