20 July 2012: Responding to reports in certain media that a real-estate agent has charged US-based Nithyananda Foundation with conducting fraudulent activities, Paramahamsa Nithyananda today clarified that Nithyananda Foundation is only an organization run by one of his lakhs of devotees worldwide, and is in no way connected to himself or Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam.

‘I am neither a trustee, nor a partner, nor am I in any way involved in Nithyananda Foundation. Even in the case filed against Nithyananda Foundation, as you can see clearly, my name has not been mentioned anywhere,’ he clarified.

'In our tradition, it is considered auspicious to give the name of one’s favorite deity or guru to any new business or spiritual venture, to ensure success and divine grace. So there are hundreds of organizations in 70 countries worldwide which are being run by various devotees using my name. It does not mean that all those organizations are mine! I may not even know about the existence of many of these organizations. The only organization run by me, and for which I am responsible, is Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam,’ stated Nithyananda categorically.

‘Until now, any devotee has had the freedom to start any organization in their country using the name ‘Nithyananda’, and run it to teach spirituality or yoga or meditation. But to avoid such confusion in the future, we will request devotees to stop using my name for their private organizations,’ he said. Starting this very month, devotees will be requested to either dissolve such organizations, or bring them legally under the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam umbrella.

When asked about the case filed on Nithyananda Foundation, Nithyananda mentioned that he had heard that 9 out of 10 charges made against the foundation had been dropped by the California court, and the foundation was planning to go for an appeal for dropping the remaining one charge as well.
