Mahaparinirvana Day is the day dedicated to the souls departed with the blessings of Swamiji. In the LBP level 2 aka Nithyananda Spurana program, the rare living incarnation Paramahamsa Nithyananada promises  the participants that wherever they are and in whatever state thety are and irrespective of the way they have lived their life, Swamji’s presence will be beside them while they leave their body and would see that their soul rests in Enlightenment.

Those souls that have departed under Swamiji’s presence are commemorated in this Maha parinirvana day.

This day is observed in the Nithyananda Dhyanapeeta on the Karthika Shulka Dvadashi which approximately falls on the 12th day after Deepavali day. This year it is on 7th Nov 2011. On this day Maheshwara Puja is offered to all those in the Nithyananda Order of Sannyas.

Maheshwara Puja:

Maheshwara Puja is the puja offered to Sannyasis and Brahmacharis in the path of Sannyas. In this puja the Sannyasis are treated as Lord Shiva Himself and are offered bhiksha and fed.

Maheshwara Puja is the oldest recorded ritual prevalent even today in the Vediuc tradition. In the Maheshwara Puja on Maha Parinirvana Day Paramahamsa Nithyananda Himself receives the puja and receives the naivedya bhiksha – the food offering.

 How does Maheshwara Puja work?

Sannyasis have no other desire or intention but to get Enlightened and get dissolved in the Cosmos. So feeding them and offering Puja to them brings about the same effect in the departed soul and helps them attain Enlightenment and get merged with the Cosmos.

 Benefits of Maheshwara Puja

Maheshwara Puja is generally offered in the rememberance of a person who is no more. It is offered so that the departed soul rests in peace. The real peace that a soul can experience is the peace of Enlightenment.

No matter how many births the person would have taken after leaving the body and no matter if the person has met the Master or not in the life, the Master can intervene and make His presence available in the departed soul’s life and lead it to Enlightenment.
