Sun TV official Raj Saxena spent two days in police custody. Saxena was arrested by city police Sunday on charges of cheating and intimidating film distributor T.S.Selvaraj. The police have been directed to bring him before the court July 7. Saxena is the chief operating officer of Sun Pictures - the movie production and distribution wing of the listed company Sun TV - promoted by Kalanithi Maran, the grand-nephew of DMK president and former chief minister M.Karunanidhi. Film distributor Selvaraj had complained that Saxena had cheated him of around Rs.8 million and threatened him when he asked for the money in connection with the distribution of Tamil movie "Theerada Vilayattu Pillai". --- 2. Kalanithi Maran aide Hansraj Saxena, Sun TV COO arrested over film telecast rights CHENNAI: Sun TV COO Hansraj Saxena, a close aide of the company's MD Kalanithi Maran, has been arrested by Chennai city police in connection with an alleged fraud in purchasing the telecast rights of a Tamil film. Police sources said Saxena had just flown back to the city from Hyderabad when a police team picked him up at the airport. "We have arrested him based on a complaint about not paying the producers of Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai," a senior city police official said. "An amount of .`90 lakh was due to the producers." According to the complaint, Sun Pictures, a division of Sun TV that Saxena heads, went ahead and telecast the film without paying the producers the total amount promised to them. CHENNAI: The police on Thursday arrested 10 more persons from Kodambakkam, T Nagar and Saidapet and detained 26 others in connection with the attack on a hotel and a house in Little Mount and Velachery Road late on Tuesday night. Ten autorickshaws were seized. On Sun TV chief executive officer Hansraj Saxena's name in the police first information report (FIR), a senior officer said: "We are looking into the legal issues. We are not sure whether Saxena was behind the attacks." Hans Raj Saxena, was arrested here Sunday in a cheating case. Police said Saxena, who was coming from Hyderabad by an evening Air India flight, was arrested on his arrival by the Central Crime Branch wing of the city police. He was taken to Adyar police station for questioning and was later taken to the magistrate who remanded him to custody. The arrest follows a complaint by filmmaker T.S. Selvaraj alleging that Saxena cheated him of Rs.9 million on payment of money for distribution of the movie 'Theeradha vilayattu Pillai'. Saxena was also in the news recently when the owners of a three-star hotel in the city alleged that he was the brain behind an attack on the hotel. The flagship channel of the Chennai-based Sun Network, Sun TV is owned by Kalanithi Maran, brother of DMK leader and union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran.
